"Sequels to the 1960s": Schlesinger Library's Summer Seminar on Gender History, June 23–27

The Schlesinger Library at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, will offer its second Summer Seminar on Gender History, a week-long educational program, June 23-27, 2008. In plenary lectures, distinguished historians, including Nancy Hewitt, Barbara Ransby, Robert Self, and Deborah Gray White, will examine the gender dynamics of political and social movements from the 1960s to the present in the United States. Seminar participants in small workshop groups will share and discuss their own research and writing on this topic. Established scholars, writers, and advanced graduate students in US history, gender studies, and related fields are welcome to apply. Application deadline is March 20, 2008. Read more.

Little Lulu Lives at the Schlesinger Library: The Marjorie Henderson Buell Collection

The Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America is pleased to present a selection of images and memorabilia from the papers of Marjorie Henderson Buell, creator of the mischievous comic strip heroine "Little Lulu" and the first woman cartoonist to achieve international fame. The collection documents Buell's career and Lulu's long-standing presence in American media. Read more.


2007–2008 Boston Seminar Series on the History of Women and Gender

The Boston Seminar Series on the History of Women and Gender—cosponsored by the Massachusetts Historical Society and the Schlesinger Library at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study—offers scholars and students an opportunity to discuss new research on any aspect of the history of women and gender in the United States, without chronological limitation. The seminar series includes four meetings that will take place during the 2007–2008 academic year. Read more.


Movie Night at the Schlesinger Library

The Schlesinger Library presents its 2007–2008 film series in the library's Radcliffe College Room on the first Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. A discussion session led by a guest speaker follows each screening. Admission is free and open to the public. Click here for the full schedule.
