Susan Stewart is the author of Columbarium, which won a National Book Critics Circle Award in poetry in 2003, and Red Rover, published last year. Her prose works include On Longing: Narratives of the Miniature, the Gigantic, the Souvenir, the Collection; Poetry and the Fate of the Senses; and The Open Studio: Essays on Art and Aesthetics. Her many translations include the recent Love Lessons: Selected Poems of Alda Merini. She is a current chancellor of the Academy of American Poets and a former MacArthur Fellow.
