Representations of p-adic Reductive Groups in Characteristic p

Rachel Ollivier is a mathematician whose work fits into the vivid scientific activity aroused in the 1960s by the Langlands program, which conjectures a unification of geometry, representation theory, and number theory. The recent proofs of Fermat’s last theorem and of Serre’s modularity conjecture are striking and famous relatives of this program.

At the Radcliffe Institute, Ollivier will pursue her research on the p-adic and mod p local Langlands conjectures, which started raising interest among mathematicians at the beginning of this century.

A maître de conférences (roughly, an associate professor) at Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Ollivier earned her PhD from the Université Paris 7 Denis Diderot in 2005. For three years, she has held a teaching position at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris.
