Ask a Librarian

Please submit your question using the form below. Questions specifically relating to Schlesinger library holdings or services are given priority. Researchers with general reference questions regarding women's history or culinary topics should first contact their public and/or university library.

  • Questions regarding library hours, photocopy policies, and interlibrary loan can be answered through the library's Web site.
  • With the exception of some books, all of the library's collections, including manuscript and archival holdings, are cataloged on HOLLIS, Harvard's on-line catalog. Nearly half of the library’s photographic holdings are searchable in the VIA database. Whenever possible, please consult HOLLIS or VIA before submitting a query.
  • Please note that the Schlesinger Library is a noncirculating library.
  • Response times will vary depending on the complexity and the volume of questions. Most queries will be answered within ten working days or less.
