The Library is located in Radcliffe Yard, three blocks outside of Harvard Square.

Visitors are encouraged to use public transportation, since parking is limited.

 

Public Transportation

Take the Red Line to the Harvard Square Station. Walk through Harvard Square, down Brattle Street; Radcliffe Yard is three blocks away, at the corner of Brattle and James Streets.

From Logan Airport

If you are flying into Boston's Logan Airport, use the subway or take a taxi from the airport to Harvard Square, Cambridge. Taxi fare is approximately $40. Subway directions are as follows:

• Take the free shuttle from your terminal to the Airport "T" (MBTA) Station.
• Take the Blue Line south to the State Street Station, and change to the Orange Line for one stop to Downtown Crossing.
• At Downtown Crossing, get on the Red Line outbound toward Alewife Station. Take this train to the Harvard Square station.
• Exit the Harvard Square Station using the Church Street exit. Walk to the end of Church Street and turn right onto Brattle Street; Radcliffe Yard is three blocks away, at the corner of Brattle and James Streets.

By Car from South of Boston

• Take I-93 North to Exit 26 (Storrow Drive) and stay in the right travel lane.
• Continue on Storrow Drive approximately 5 miles to the Harvard Square/Cambridge exit.
• At the Harvard Square exit, make a right over the bridge. Go straight (you are now on J.F.K. Street) until the fourth set of lights. Turn left at the lights onto Brattle Street and move immediately into the right lane. Just ahead, Brattle Street turns sharply to the right (in front of Eastern Mountain Sports). Radcliffe Yard is about two blocks down on the right across the street from the American Repertory Theatre.

By Car from North of Boston

• Take I-93 South to Exit 26 (Storrow Drive/North Station).
• Keep left at the end of the ramp and take the underpass to Storrow Drive.
• Continue on Storrow Drive approximately 4 miles to the Harvard Square exit.
• Turn right at the end of the ramp onto John F. Kennedy Street. Go through 2 sets of lights. At the third set of lights, turn left onto Eliot Street (Curious George WordsWorth is on left, Cardullo's straight ahead).
• Take first right onto Brattle Street. Radcliffe Yard will be on your right after you pass the Graduate School of Education on your right and the American Repertory Theatre on your left.

By Car from West of Boston

• Take I-90 East (Mass Turnpike) to Exit 18 (Cambridge/Allston).
• Bear right after the toll booth at the end of the exit ramp.
• At the 3rd set of lights (over bridge), turn left onto Memorial Drive.
• After 2nd set of lights, turn right onto John F. Kennedy Street.
• Go through 2 sets of lights. At the third set of lights, turn left onto Eliot Street (Curious George WordsWorth is on left, Cardullo's straight ahead).
• Take first right onto Brattle Street. Radcliffe Yard will be on your right after you pass the Graduate School of Education on your right and the American Repertory Theatre on your left.

Parking

Parking can be very difficult to find and expensive in Harvard Square. If you are unable to find on-street parking, we suggest you try one of the following commercial parking lots:

Church Street Lot - The Church Street lot is the parking area closest to the Radcliffe Yard. From John F. Kennedy Street, go straight through the traffic lights at Memorial Drive, Eliot Street, and Mount Auburn Street. The next traffic light will put you in the center of Harvard Square, facing a newsstand called "Nini's Corner." Take a sharp left at "Nini's Corner," then bear right immediately onto Brattle Street. Take the first right onto Church Street. The parking lot is halfway up the street on your left.

Harvard Square Parking Garage - From John F. Kennedy Street, go straight through the traffic lights at Memorial Drive, then turn left at the first light onto Eliot Street. The parking garage is immediately on your right.

University Place Garage - From John F. Kennedy Street, go straight through the traffic lights at Memorial Drive, then turn left at the first light onto Eliot Street. Go straight through the next light onto Bennett Street. Bennett Street dead ends onto University Road. Turn left onto University Road, and the parking garage is immediately on your left.

Charles Hotel Parking - This parking garage is located across the street from the University Place Garage and below the Charles Hotel. Follow the previous instructions to the University Place Garage. When you are on Bennett Street, look for the Charles Hotel parking garage on your left.

Holyoke Center Parking - From John F. Kennedy Street, go straight through the traffic lights at Memorial Drive and Eliot Street. Turn right at the next light onto Mount Auburn Street. Turn left at the second street onto Holyoke Street. The entrance to the Holyoke Center garage will be on your left.

Alewife T Station Parking - Parking is available at Alewife T Station at the intersection of Route 2 and Route 16, and midway between Massachusetts Avenue and Fresh Pond Circle. Alewife T Station is located on the Red Line and any train will take you to Harvard T station (the third stop from Alewife and approximately a five-minute ride)
