A feature film set in 1963.  The night before leaving for Vietnam, a group of young soldiers engages in a “dogfight” and the soldier who finds the most unattractive girl wins a prize.  The relationship of one young man and his “date” develops in ways that neither he nor his date foresaw. Starring Lili Taylor, River Phoenix, and Holly Near.

A discussion with Andrea Walsh, lecturer in writing and humanistic studies, women’s studies, and comparative media studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, will follow the film.
